REQUIRED MATERIALS:

Casebook: Kadish. Criminal Law and Its Processes
OPTIONAL MATERIALS:

The required materials and the class discussions should provide you with more than enough criminal law for the purposes of this course. If you would like to review  or explore a bit more this web site should provide you with sufficient resources.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS:

1. Be on time. Class will begin on time each day.

2. Be present. There are no free cuts in this course. Please read the foregoing sentence again. You may miss class only for good cause.  More than four unexcused absences could affect your grade.

3. Class participation is encouraged. Note that without prior notice  you are expected to be prepared to explore material, answer questions, and speak about the cases on any given day in class.

REVIEW SESSIONS

I may announce voluntary review sessions or additional subject discussion periods. These additional, voluntary sessions (if any) will be outside of regular class times and are solely for the benefit of those students who want to attend. Attendance at sessions not included in the course syllabus will be optional and no attendance record will be kept. Any new or additional materials discussed during these meetings will not be considered course materials. They are solely conducted for the benefit of those who choose to participate.

GRADING

Your grade in this course will be based upon your performance on the final examination.

FINAL EXAMINATION

Expect a comprehensive final exam. In the past, exams for this course have been essay exams (either long or short answer essay). The exam will encompass the materials included in both the reading assignments (whether or not the material is discussed in class) and the class discussions (whether or not the discussions directly relate to the reading assignments).
